About
Overview
PORTFOLIO is a weeklong camp for ages 14–18 set in Art Omi: Education's creative space at Art Omi: Pavilions in Chatham. This five-day program teaches professional documentation practices and thematic thoughtfulness to help young artists highlight their authenticity and personality. By the end of the week, campers will leave with a polished, live digital presence and the confidence to navigate college admissions and professional art opportunities.
Program highlights
- Develop conceptual rigor: Learn to explore themes rather than just make objects. Professional reviewers want to see how an artist thinks.
- Site-specific and multi-disciplinary expansion: Use Art Omi's large-scale sculpture and architecture as inspiration to work outside the 2D plane and experiment with installation, process-based, and large-scale formats.
- Develop a critical lens: Learn to talk about your work through peer reviews and professional critiques with Art Omi faculty.
- Strategic portfolio curation: Receive support to identify gaps in your body of work, create 'anchor pieces,' and learn to select, sequence, and write artist statements.
- Find joy in your art: PORTFOLIO fosters student agency and joyful discovery in the creative process.
