PORTFOLIO is a weeklong camp for ages 14–18 set in Art Omi: Education's creative space at Art Omi: Pavilions in Chatham. This five-day program teaches professional documentation practices and thematic thoughtfulness to help young artists highlight their authenticity and personality. By the end of the week, campers will leave with a polished, live digital presence and the confidence to navigate college admissions and professional art opportunities.

  • Develop conceptual rigor: Learn to explore themes rather than just make objects. Professional reviewers want to see how an artist thinks.
  • Site-specific and multi-disciplinary expansion: Use Art Omi's large-scale sculpture and architecture as inspiration to work outside the 2D plane and experiment with installation, process-based, and large-scale formats.
  • Develop a critical lens: Learn to talk about your work through peer reviews and professional critiques with Art Omi faculty.
  • Strategic portfolio curation: Receive support to identify gaps in your body of work, create 'anchor pieces,' and learn to select, sequence, and write artist statements.
  • Find joy in your art: PORTFOLIO fosters student agency and joyful discovery in the creative process.
  • Dates: July 27–31, 9:30 AM–3:30 PM

Open to teens ages 14–18. The camp is particularly helpful for those seeking guidance in building a portfolio for AP courses and those applying to college, but also welcomes teens looking to build upon a body of work.

$300. A limited number of financial aid scholarships are available.

Catie Rogers is an artist and educator with a BFA in Sculpture from SUNY Purchase and an MA in Art Education from The City College of New York. She has a professional background that includes assisting prominent contemporary artists and teaching neurodivergent students in specialized settings.
