The program welcomes theatre-makers, actors, directors, playwrights, filmmakers, dancers, choreographers, designers, and interdisciplinary artists whose practice engages with theatre, film, or live performance. Applications are welcome from individual artists, duos, and small collaborative teams. Based in a historic house, Casa Hechale provides an environment for sustained artistic work: developing a script, researching a project, exploring performance material, or bringing a work in progress into rehearsal. Applicants should propose a project or line of inquiry they wish to develop during their stay. Each residency period accommodates up to six Resident Artists. Private and shared rooms are available, both with shared bathroom facilities. Working languages are English and Spanish.
Applicants for four-week residencies may request a Casa Hechale Scholarship of up to USD 700. Artists born and currently based in Latin America may also be considered for supplemental support of up to USD 500, subject to availability and residency-period conditions. Support is applied towards program fees and must be requested in the application.
