Overview

PICA invites Western Australian artists, curators, writers and creative practitioners to apply for a range of local, national and international residency opportunities as part of its 2027 Studio Program. The program supports creative development, research, experimentation and cultural exchange.

Residencies Available

  • Perth–Taipei Residency: 12-week international exchange with Treasure Hill Artist Village in Taipei, Taiwan, focused on cultural exchange and development of a new body of work.
  • BREEZE: Perth–Makassar Residency: Two-week research residency in Makassar, Indonesia, for a writer or curator researching and documenting the BREEZE exchange program.
  • Parramatta Artists Studios × PICA Exchange Program: Reciprocal exchange between Perth and Western Sydney for artists, curators and producers.
  • Quick Response Residencies: One to four-week short-term residencies for artists across all disciplines needing space to experiment and test ideas.
  • Hyper Local Residencies: Five-month extended residencies for mid-career Boorloo/Perth-based artists developing long-term projects.

Support Provided

Successful applicants will receive access to dedicated workspace, professional support, networking opportunities and, for exchange residencies, travel and accommodation support.

Who Can Apply

Opportunities are available across different career stages and disciplines. Eligibility varies by residency, with opportunities available for visual artists, curators, arts writers, producers and interdisciplinary practitioners. Must be a Western Australian resident/artist.
