Visiting Artists will be provided with a furnished apartment near Sloss Furnaces, a living stipend, materials budget, sand and iron, and 24-hour studio access. Visiting Artists are expected to have a final exhibition at the conclusion of their residency. One piece from the exhibition is to be donated to Sloss’ permanent collection. This will be a participant driven mentorship where you can ask for guidance on woodworking topics of your choice and gain the skills to forge your own individual path as a craftsperson. Apply Forge Project Fellowship 2026Taghkanic, New YorkDeadline: February 15, 2026 The Forge Project Fellows represent a broad diversity of cultural practices, participatory research, organizing models, and geographical contexts that honor Indigenous pasts as well as build Native futures. Each Forge Project Fellow will receive $25,000 USD toward their practice and will have full access to the Forge Project site, libraries, and lending collection of living Indigenous artists during their fellowship. 2026 Fellows will also have the opportunity to present their work to the local Forge Project audience on site as well as a wider international audience via social media. Applicants must be an enrolled member, citizen, or descendant with verification from the enrollment office of a state or federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native corporation, or of Native Hawaiian ancestry, a Canadian First Nations (status or non-status), Métis or Inuit to apply for the 2026 Forge Project Fellowship. At least two Fellows will come from the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians. Apply ON::VIEW Artist Residency ProgramSavannah, GeorgiaDeadline: February 16, 2026 Located in the heart of Savannah’s Starland District at ARTS Southeast, the ON::VIEW Artist Residency provides a free, high visibility studio space for an artist to complete a new project, to continue an in-progress endeavor, or to conduct research exploring conceptual, material, performative, and social practices. The studio’s large windows look out onto Bull Street, the district’s main thoroughfare, allowing the artist’s work to be on view to the community at all times. Visitors and passersby on the sidewalk witness the artist’s process as it unfolds in real time, seeing all the steps involved from concept to final execution. Community events like workshops, performances, public art projects and artist talks offer creative ways to interact with the public. The ON::View Residency supports artists from across the globe, working in all media. There is a $50 application fee. Groot Material Exploration Residency at the Center for Craft is an eight-week visiting artist residency in Asheville, North Carolina, that provides four residents the time to develop their work, access to new materials, facilitated shared learning experiences, and a $10,000 honorarium. This unique opportunity will connect the artists-in-residence with makers and resources in Western North Carolina to enhance their practice, develop reciprocal relationships, and expand their networks. Each resident will select a local craft organization to partner with in exploring a new material.
