The CityArtist grant supports Seattle-based individual artists and curators in the research, development, and presentation of creative work. By sustaining individuals at the core of the cultural sector, this program enables creative careers and work to develop and adapt over time. Awarded artists must offer a public presentation within Seattle city limits.

Open to Seattle-based individual artists and curators. The 2027 application is limited to those working in Dance, Music, and Theater (including Playwriting). The program operates on a rotating disciplinary cycle: Odd Years (2027): Dance, Music, and Theater (including Playwriting); Even Years (2028): Literary, Media/Film (including Screenwriting), and Visual Art.

  • Application deadline: July 14, 2026

Individual online application via the City's grant platform, Fluxx. Submit W-9 form. Prior awards have ranged from $5,000 to $8,000.

Artists are encouraged to promote their funded work through their own channels (social media, email lists, networking, word of mouth). Contact your project manager early to be included in the Office of Arts & Culture editorial calendar. Submit promotional materials (flyers, posters, graphics) with the Office name/logo at least two weeks before your event.
