Overview
´ace (arte contemporáneo en expansión) offers micro-residencies for artists, curators, and researchers to start new projects, develop ongoing work, or finish ideas in a short but intensive period. The program promotes contemporary artistic practices and collaborative exchange in Buenos Aires.
Residency Length & Timing
- 10-15 days
- Open calls held 4 times per year: January 31st, April 30th, July 31st, and October 31st
- Applicants may submit at any time of year
Eligibility
- Open to artists at any stage of career
- Based anywhere in the world
- All artistic disciplines welcome, including visual arts, performance, sound art, curatorial projects, and expanded practices
- Collaborative teams may apply (each member must apply individually)
Residency Fee
- Base fee: 1,500 USD
- Fees vary by artist age (sub30 artists receive reduced fees), duration, housing, materials, and project requirements
- Institutions may pay resident fees via one-time or ongoing agreements
What's Included in Basic Fee
- Studio access Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm, with air conditioning/heating and WiFi
- Technical and conceptual guidance, portfolio reviews, and critiques
- Common workshop materials and tools
- Permanent artist profile on ´ace website
- Welcome and farewell meals; coffee, tea, beverages, fresh fruits, and pastries available daily
- SUBE city transportation card with initial charge paid by ´ace
- Accident insurance during studio hours
- Open studio or presentation at program end
Not Included in Fee
- Inbound and outbound flights to Buenos Aires
- Visas (most North American, Latin American, European, and Oceanian citizens do not need visas)
- Lodging (available at additional cost in ´ace apartments or elsewhere in the city)
- Health/dental insurance
- Special materials beyond those listed above
Housing & Facilities
- Private housing off-campus or private bedroom in shared on-campus facility
- Approximately 5 artists in residence at a time
- Studios: private, shared, or dedicated shop spaces with full-time and part-time technicians
- Equipment: printers, scanners, painting workspace, drawing benches, printmaking, book arts, etching, drying racks, silkscreen, lithography, light tables, large sinks, acid room
How to Apply
Applications accepted at any time of year. The program prioritizes expanded art practices—both physical and digital—including proposals using multiple media or dissolving boundaries between them. Particular interest in printmaking involving traditional and innovative techniques, installation, photography, artist books, painting, illustration, video, stop motion, sound, and new media.

- Fees vary according to artist age (sub30 artists have reduced fees), residency duration, and housing/materials/project requirements. Basic fee of 1500 USD includes studio access, technical guidance, some meals, and transportation card.
