About
Overview
YUI-PORT is a refurbished former junior high school facility serving as a center for creative arts and international youth exchange. It hosts artist-in-residence programs to support domestic and overseas artists, foster creative communities, and transmit the charm of Niigata City through cultural and artistic activities.

- Application period: July 21, 2026 – August 28, 2026
- Residency period: January 8, 2027 – February 15, 2027 (up to 30 days within this window)

Eligibility
- Currently active artist (any genre)
- Able to communicate in Japanese or English
- In good health condition
- Must participate in citizen exchange project at least once
- Must reside and conduct creative activities at the facility
- Not affiliated with organized crime groups or anti-social forces
- Work creation must not violate public order and morals
- Primary purpose must not be dissemination or support of specific political or religious cause
Program Features
- Free use of Workshop Gallery (1 or 2) during residency
- Free accommodation in Artist Dormitory (1 or 2) with attached equipment
- Free use of facility tools and furniture
- Staff research assistance and support
- Participation in citizen exchange projects and workshops

What Artists Must Cover
Production costs, accommodation expenses, and transportation costs are borne by the artist.
Application Requirements

- Complete application form (max 6 pages A4 size)
- One photograph of face taken within last 6 months
- Up to 3 images of works (at least one required, each under 1MB)
- Up to 3 video works (optional): upload to YouTube/Vimeo/streaming platform, total length max 10 minutes
