About

Overview

Since 1981, the MCAD–Jerome Foundation Fellowships support early career visual artists working in a variety of media, including traditional and new media. An independent jury of three arts professionals competitively awards four grants.

Award

Each recipient receives $10,000 in fellowship funds plus $1,000 in professional development funds. Fellowships may be used to purchase materials, cover production costs of new artwork, and supplement living or travel costs.

Eligibility

Open to early career Minnesota-based visual artists who have not yet attained professional acknowledgment commensurate with the quality of their work and can present their work in a gallery context. MCAD and the Jerome Foundation welcome applications from artists representing diverse cultural perspectives.

What Fellows Receive

Three studio visits from professional critics during the fellowship year
Access to technical assistance and MCAD facilities
A culminating exhibition at the MCAD Gallery
A catalog featuring a critical essay on each artist's work
Opportunity to participate in a public panel discussion
