A ceramics exhibition exploring the breathtaking beauty and fragility of our ocean world, from sky to shore and sea. Featuring works inspired by coastal landscapes, land and marine life, deep water mysteries and the urgent call of climate awareness. Works may be true to life or entirely abstract, using texture, color, glaze, and shape to evoke feeling, movement, or meaning.

  • Application deadline: September 27, 2026, 11:59pm
  • Artist notifications: By 5pm PST September 30, 2026
  • Art drop-off: Saturday, October 2, 10am–5pm
  • Jurying: October 3–4
  • Awards ceremony: October 9 at 6pm
  • Opening reception: October 9, 5pm–8pm
  • Exhibition dates: October 9–November 13, 2026
  • Ceramic artists 18 years of age or older
  • California residency required
  • Artwork must be original and completed within the last two years
  • Minimum 90% clay required
  • Artwork cannot have been previously exhibited at the Ceramic Art Center of Marin or Art Works Downtown
  • Maximum dimensions for pedestal work: 36" x 36"
  • Hanging work: maximum 20lbs, hanging-ready with traditional hanging wire, keyhole brackets, or D-rings (saw tooth hangers not compatible)
  • Featherlight wall installations without cable rail system welcome (limited space; contact gallery to discuss feasibility)
  • Maximum 2 works per artist
  • Submit 1–2 JPG images only
  • Image specifications: 1,200px minimum on longest side; 1–3MB file size
  • Apply using online form through CaFÉ
  • Entry fee: $40 non-refundable per application
  • Gallery commission: 35% (artists receive 65% on sales)
  • All artwork must be for sale
  • No accepted work may be withdrawn or sold outside the exhibition prior to November 13, 2026
  • Delivery location: Studio #24, Art Works Downtown, 1325–1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael, CA 94901
  • Drop-off: Saturday, October 2, 10am–5pm
  • All wall-hung artwork must be ready to hang with appropriate hardware, including wire installed on the back prior to delivery
