About
Position Overview
Seeking a highly skilled painter with strong background in classical realism and loose, painterly academic portraiture to work as a studio assistant. This is a project-based position with variable volume depending on current client projects. Compensation is paid per completed item. Work is confidential and requires signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in classical realist portraiture
- Strong understanding of anatomy, form, value, color, and likeness
- Painterly, academic approach to portrait painting
- Ability to closely replicate an established artist's brushwork, technique, and style
- Proficiency in acrylic painting
- Atelier training preferred
- Previous experience working for or assisting other professional artists highly preferred
- Experience creating digital mockups
- Excellent attention to detail and consistency
- Strong, confident problem-solving skills
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
Responsibilities
- Paint commissioned sports memorabilia and other commercial artwork
- Work from reference images and established designs
- Create digital mockups when required
- Maintain consistent brushwork, technique, and visual language across all pieces
- Submit completed work for review and make adjustments when necessary
- Maintain a consistently high level of craftsmanship
Work Style
This is not a micromanaged position. You must be confident making informed decisions, troubleshooting issues, and completing assigned work independently while maintaining the established standard and style.
