The Frappant e.V. invites artists, curators, designers, architects, and activists to submit exhibition proposals for a show at Frappant Gallery in 2027. The gallery is a non-commercial exhibition space within a cooperatively managed center for alternative culture, education, and social issues in Hamburg-Altona.

  • Application deadline: August 17, 2026

Professional artists, curators, designers, architects, and activists with a qualified artistic or curatorial practice.

  • Minimum three artistic perspectives (solo exhibitions not eligible)
  • Well-developed, written exhibition proposal required
  • Transregional collaborations involving Hamburg artists encouraged
  • Exchange with independent art spaces outside Hamburg encouraged
  • Transcend genres or are spatially comprehensive (analog and digital)
  • Interdisciplinary approaches across fine arts, performing arts, music, literature, urbanism, and social culture
  • Observe, critique, question, subvert, or deconstruct existing systems
  • Adopt feminist positions or present alternative perspectives to Western heteronormative viewpoints
  • Include special events such as performances, lectures, workshops, or screenings
