Overview
The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council are seeking to purchase artwork from Colorado artists or artists who reside in the Colorado Region (Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona). The artwork will be placed at a new pedestrian underpass at the corner of 96th Avenue & Reunion Parkway in Commerce City, near the future Rocky Vista High School site.
What We're Looking For
Interactive sculptural and/or other artwork that celebrates the Rocky Vista name, highlights Commerce City community and unity, evokes joy and delight, and has a pleasing and uplifting effect. Artwork should be safe and appropriate for all ages and reflect the family-friendly community with its small-town atmosphere, active events, and emphasis on outdoor living.
Eligibility
Artists who reside in Colorado or the Colorado Region (Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona).
Key Dates
- September 1, 2026, 11:59 p.m. MST: Submission deadline
- Late September 2026: Semi-finalists notified
- Late September/Early October 2026: Semi-finalist interviews
- Week of October 19, 2026: Cultural Council review; finalists notified
- Week of November 16, 2026: City Council review; finalists notified
- November/December 2026: Execute contract
- Early 2027: Installation

- Digital images: maximum of five images, with at least one being a rendering or draft of the proposed artwork for this project; include dimensions for each work

- Artist statement including: your interest in Commerce City, information about creating your artwork and how it meets the criteria, durability and materials of the proposed artwork and material longevity, and your artist website and social media handles
