Grant Awards
The Hopper Prize awards $26,000.00 USD annually in individual artist grants. Beginning in 2025, during each open call cycle (Spring and Fall), 2 artists will receive $4,500.00 USD and 4 artists will receive $1,000.00 USD, for a total of 12 grants awarded annually (6 in Spring, 6 in Fall).
Who Can Apply
Open to artists of all ages and experience levels. The organization welcomes applications from artists around the globe working in any media, including painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, video, documentary, performing, experimental, conceptual, and installation practices.
Selection Process
Winning artists are selected through an open call for submissions based on the quality of their work. The Hopper Prize is merit-based. Artists can apply directly through the website at any time during the open call. The organization does not solicit applications through nominations to ensure fairness and objectivity.
Archiving Initiative
30 artists from each award cycle (60 annually) will have their work, biographies, and links to their personal websites archived at hopperprize.org. When you apply, you may select to have your work considered for additional exposure on Instagram @hopperprize.
