Theme: Pattern Language
Patterns are a language. They help us understand the world, revealing relationships that might otherwise go unnoticed. They can offer order, reveal connection, or mark change. They shift, unravel, fracture, and reform, reminding us that patterns are never fixed. This exhibition invites artists to explore the many ways patterns shape perception and experience. Whether expressed through material, gesture, concept, or the act of making itself, this theme is intentionally open to interpretation.
Curator
Julia Martin, an award-winning Denver-based mixed-media artist whose practice brings together a lineage of women seamstresses and a career in healthcare as a nurse-midwife. Working with paper, paint, cloth, and thread, she creates sewn paintings that explore the unseen things people carry.
