Boundaries are all around us, physical limitations or social agreements, they can keep us safe or restrict us. You can stay within these boundaries or you can break free of them. The gallery wants to see how you interpret this theme, either literal or in a more metaphorical sense; you can be as experimental as you wish.
Photographers who are selected will have their work displayed in a month-long exhibition at The Glasgow Gallery of Photography, which receives an average of over 500 visitors every month. Work will also appear online via social media (over 16K followers on Instagram) and in an online gallery on the website (approx. 75K visitors a year). All selected participants will receive a digital certificate of participation and photos of the installed exhibition. They will also be put forward for a chance to be named Photographer of the Month (PotM). If named PotM, work will be highlighted on social media and the website and will be part of an end-of-year zine showcasing the work of the 12 PotM; a free copy of the zine will be provided. Any selected work can be listed for sale during the exhibition.
This opportunity is open to everyone, whether emerging or established, and professional or non-professional photographers. The gallery believes that photography is for everyone and exhibiting work is a great way of developing practice and helping towards career goals.
Every listing links to the organizer's official page. Always confirm deadlines, fees, and entry rules there before you apply.
Unless otherwise stated by the gallery, images will either be printed 16"x12", 18"x12", or 12"x12" in size, depending on the image. The frames used belong to the gallery. Photographers can collect their work after the exhibition; prints will be held for one month.
