Get matched →PERFORMNORD 2027 is the first international platform dedicated to performance art from the Nordic countries, taking place in Copenhagen 2–12 September 2027. Organized by the Danish Arts Foundation and produced by Copenhagen International Theatre (Metropolis), it aims to strengthen awareness of performance art within the Nordic region and promote Nordic work internationally. The inaugural platform invites 40–50 professional Nordic performance artists to form international collaborations.
The event combines a professional platform (2–5 September) for international programmers and professionals with a public programme (2–12 September) including live performances, studio presentations, talks, interviews, and workshops. The hub is located on Refshaleøen, Copenhagen's former shipyard, with additional events throughout the city.
Selected artists receive coverage of travel costs, lodging costs, and local logistics costs, plus a participation fee based on support from individual Nordic national arts agencies and independent foundations. Additional benefits may include possible extended runs with Metropolis' site-specific programme, pre-site visits and short residencies to prepare site-specific work, and access to studio spaces (15–25 m²) for artists selected for studio presentations.

Applications are submitted online. There is no application fee. Selection proceeds in stages: the secretariat assesses formal eligibility, individual national panel members assess and prioritize applications from their own country, and the full 16-member Nordic panel evaluates all prioritized applicants according to sub-genre, artistic quality, format quality, international potential, and logistics. The panel may also directly approach individual artists outside the standard application process.
PERFORMNORD is initiated by the Danish Arts Foundation (Statens Kunstfond), Denmark's principal state arts-funding body established by act of Parliament in 1964. It is developed in collaboration with national funding bodies of Iceland, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The event is produced by Copenhagen International Theatre (KIT) through its Metropolis platform, known for nearly 50 years of producing performing arts and since 2007 for site-specific and location-based work.
