Overview
HBK Braunschweig offers seven 12-month fellowships and artist residencies for 2027/28 on behalf of the State of Lower Saxony. The programme is aimed at artists who would like to work on a project in the immediate vicinity of HBK Braunschweig, with their project proposal making a significant contribution towards the further development of forms of artistic practice.

Eligibility
Applicants must have completed an art degree after April 1, 2016 and before April 1, 2023. Proof of extensive artistic practice and exhibition participation is required. Open to international applicants.
Accommodation and Fees
Fellows receive rent-free studio apartments within a converted industrial building. A contribution of 250 EUR per month towards incidental living costs is required. Fellows must reside at HBK for at least eight months during the lecture periods in summer and winter semesters.

Application Requirements
- Application form (fully completed and signed)
- Artistic profile (1 file, max. 15 MB) including: name, website, social media handles, artist statement (max. 350 words), brief project description (max. 350 words), portfolio (10–15 works), short CV with prices, exhibitions, fellowships, and 3 video-/audiofile links (password-free access)
- Diploma or certified German translation (PDF, max. 1 MB)
- File naming convention must be followed: Surname, Firstname_APF (application form) or Surname, Firstname_Visual Arts or Soundart (profile) or Surname, Firstname_Degree (diploma)
Selection and Expectations
Fellows will be assigned a mentor from the fine arts professors (mentor choice available to fellows). All fine arts professors are available for artistic discourse. Fellows will present their project status within the university and are expected to participate in Welcome Weeks and the joint final presentation. Only one scholarship category may be applied for at a time.
