Overview
Circuits is an installation by Amsterdam design collective Experimental Jetset specially designed for the space at the top of the museum's historic staircase. The work comprises sixteen wall paintings mounted in round frames (rosettes) depicting extinct media formats such as 35mm film reels, LaserDiscs, cassette tapes, and CDs. Accompanied by a series of 16 abstract title plates, the installation explores how shape and content, carriers and memory are intertwined, revealing how the physical qualities of information carriers influenced the design of content.

About Experimental Jetset
Amsterdam-based graphic design collective founded in 1997 by Marieke Stolk, Erwin Brinkers, and Danny van den Dungen. Known for their highly conceptual approach, they describe their working method as 'translating language into objects'. Their work explores the relationship between design, language, politics and cultural history.
About Circuits
Circuits is part of the Lost Formats Preservation Society, one of Experimental Jetset's long-running research projects launched in 1999. The installation investigates how information once had a physical form and reminds viewers that in the digital era, when data is uploaded to the cloud, we once had to physically back up information. It asks viewers to consider potential transience, instability, and manipulation in the digital age.
