About
Overview
In Situ is an interdisciplinary residence program hosted at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. It brings together ten artists annually across visual arts, performance, design, architecture-urbanism, and curatorial practice for six months of research, individual work, and collective collaboration centered on artistic creation's relationship to social, political, and ecological transformation.
Theme
The fourth edition, guided by Alexandra McIntosh (director of the Centre International d'Art et du Paysage de l'Île de Vassivière), explores reciprocity in artistic practice: collective commitments, interdependence in a more-than-human world, and new methodologies for rethinking our relationship with the natural world and one another in the face of climate collapse and social fracture.
Program structure
- Alternates between collective work sessions designed by the invited researcher, individual artistic practice, and professional development
- Includes discussions, workshops, and studio visits
- Two one-week immersion periods at the Vassivière and Millevaches plateau territories
- Professional mentoring, exhibition visits, and meetings with practitioners from diverse fields
