The European Cultural Foundation opens a new annual Fellowship programme for artists and researchers to conduct research and creative work with the ECF's historical archives at the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) in Florence. Fellows work embedded in the international scholarly community of the European University Institute. Archival materials are primarily in English, with significant holdings in French, German, and Dutch, plus additional languages occasionally represented.

  • Academic Research Fellowship: €5,000 grant to support a research stay, including travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
  • Artistic Research Fellowship: €10,000 grant to support a research stay, including travel, accommodation, and living expenses, as well as artistic production.

Artists and researchers engaging with the history of the European Cultural Foundation and the broader role of culture in shaping Europe.

  • Application deadline: 30 September 2026 at 17:00 CET.
  • Archives open to the public and Fellowship programme opens: June 10, 2026.

There is no fixed fellowship period or residency requirement. Outcomes must be completed and publicly presented or published within two years after the signing of the Grant Agreement.
