TAC Accessibility Grant

Overview

The TAC Accessibility Grant is an additional funding opportunity for Deaf artists and artists with disabilities working on Toronto Arts Council-funded projects. This grant provides up to $5,000 to cover accessibility accommodations directly related to project delivery. Applicants must have already received or be concurrently applying for a Toronto Arts Council project grant.

Eligibility

This grant is open to Toronto Arts Council grant recipients in any discipline who identify as Deaf or living with disability, or who work with key project contributors identifying as Deaf or disabled. Projects must not be completed and must be within the 2-year window from the notification letter date of the associated project grant.

Eligible Accessibility Costs

• Sign language interpretation
• Audio description
• Captioning
• Communications assistants
• Support workers or attendant care (including helpers for Elders)
• Transportation
• Equipment and technology rentals
• Software licenses for the duration of the project
• Equipment, hardware, and software purchases of less than $100
• Mental health supports directly related to the project
• Other supports required to meet artists' and key project contributors' accessibility needs

What Is NOT Funded

• Accessibility costs for project audience members or participants (with limited exceptions)
• Capital purchases, building renovations, or long-term rentals
• Artist fees
• Expenses for contributors not yet confirmed as project participants
• Support for writing a TAC grant application or final report

How to Apply

The TAC Accessibility Grant has a rolling deadline and can be applied for at any time during the associated TAC-funded project. Applications are submitted through TAC Grants Online only; TAC does not accept applications by other means. Applicants may apply multiple times during their project, up to a maximum of $5,000 per associated project grant. Concurrent applications with an associated project grant will receive results within 4 weeks of the notification of that project grant.
