Overview

The Basil Sellers Art Prize is a major national Australian art prize celebrating artistic excellence in 2D works. Established in 2004, it supports artists at all stages of their careers with an artist-first ethos focused on accessibility and removing barriers to entry. Open to artists across Australia from diverse backgrounds and regions.

Key dates

  • Call for entries: Monday 1 June to midnight Friday 11 September 2026
  • Finalists announced: Friday 16 October 2026
  • Opening and winners' announcement: Friday 4 December 2026, from 5.30pm
  • Exhibition: Saturday 5 December 2026 to Saturday 30 January 2027
