Overview
The City of Toronto is seeking creatives, community groups and organizations to submit proposals for community activations and space requests at Toronto History Museums under the 2027 theme: Nourish.
Two Streams
- Community Activations Stream: Bring Toronto's diverse histories and stories to the forefront with ideas for artifact collections, exhibitions, installations, public programs or participatory experiences.
- Space for Community Stream: Community groups and organizations can request free or discounted access to museum spaces for meetings, workshops, programs, celebrations and community care activities.
Eligible Applicants
- Groups and organizations currently working in partnership with Toronto History Museums
- Community-based organizations, collectives and groups
- Indigenous governments, tribal councils or community leaders
- Not-for-profit cultural or arts organizations
- Equity-deserving groups and organizations rooted in community
- Unincorporated groups or individuals working in partnership with eligible organizations
- Artists, makers, curators, individuals or creatives of any discipline (visual, written, media, etc.) interested in community engagement
Proposal Examples
- Cultural programs or workshops led by your community
- Community events hosted within museum environments
- Collaborative exhibitions or installations
- Intergenerational storytelling, cultural heritage sharing or creative activations
- Already-funded ideas seeking a public-facing space
- Projects seeking space and funding support
Space Request Examples
- Community meetings or planning sessions
- Intergenerational gatherings
- Informal workshops or info sessions
- Healing circles or peer support meetings
- Dialogue groups or strategy roundtables
Key Dates
- Submission deadline: September 4, 4 p.m.
- Information session: Wednesday, August 12, at 1 p.m.
- Information session: Sunday, August 16, at 6 p.m.
- Space requests reviewed monthly on an ongoing basis
