Overview
Delfina Foundation in London is one of the United Kingdom's best-known artist-in-residence programmes. The Foundation promotes artistic exchange and experiment, offering visual artists and curators a platform to conduct research, develop ideas, and position their practices within global discourse. Residents are introduced to the London art scene and Delfina's extensive international network. The foundation is housed at 29-31 Catherine Place in central London, with space for 6 to 8 international residents. Each resident has their own room, sharing kitchen and sanitary facilities.

Eligibility
Open to visual artists and curators. Applications as a duo are not possible.
Funding
- €9,188 subsidy for artists
- €7,232 for curators or art observers
- Covers travel expenses, material costs, and living costs for 1 person
- Studio rental, living space, and Delfina Foundation support paid directly by Mondriaan Fund
- Selected resident must pay 10% personal contribution (automatically deducted from subsidy)
- Contribution for artists based in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom can be increased to meet higher travel costs (assessed per situation)
Application Requirements
Applicants are not asked to propose a concrete project in advance, but must submit a clear motivation explaining why they wish to participate, what research they wish to conduct during their residency, and how this research contributes to Delfina Foundation's ongoing programme.
Residency Activities
The residency programme begins with a series of visits to museums, galleries, and non-profit platforms. Residents meet one another and discuss their own work and that of others. During the working period, discussions are organized with London-based artists, portfolios are discussed with curators, and networking lunches are held regularly. Residents are expected to take part in these activities.
Selection & Timeline
Selection is made by an advisory committee based on submitted documents. A representative of Delfina Foundation participates in the meeting. Processing time for the selection procedure may exceed three months.
