Get matched →The Public Art Agency and Akademiska Hus are seeking an artist to create a permanent artwork for Universum at Umeå University. The project celebrates Universum's role as a hub and entrance to the university, a place where students and staff gather regardless of faculty affiliation.
The artwork should reflect Universum's function as a gateway into the university and strengthen its role on campus. The concept may draw from science fiction notions such as wormholes, paths into new dimensions, and entries into spaces of knowledge. The emphasis should be on science and learning's importance for addressing future challenges and societal development, reflecting the university's clear interdisciplinary focus and dynamic, open culture.
Several possible locations exist for the artwork, both indoors and outdoors. Both building-integrated and free-standing artworks are possible.
