Overview
The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) Arts at the Airport Program seeks to commission a professional visual artist or artist team to design and fabricate four custom conference tables for the new Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Headquarters & Police Station building on airport property. The artwork will be thematic, public-facing, and part of the permanent collection.
Project Details
- Location: Four interior conference rooms in the new HQ building
- Budget: Up to $80,000 for all four tables, inclusive of design fees, engineering, fabrication, materials, labor, travel, permits, insurance, installation, and documentation
- Building: New four-story, 62,000-square-foot facility serving as headquarters for police and airport administration
Conference Room Themes & Locations
- First Floor: 'Flowing Through Northern Nevada' (Lake Tahoe conference room)
- Third Floor: 'Valleys to Peaks' (Sierra Nevada conference room)
- Fourth Floor: 'Inspiration from the Sky' (SuperSonic and Jetstream conference rooms)
Artwork Requirements
Tables must be appropriate for actively used conference spaces, comfortable and accessible for all users, constructed of durable public-space materials, and coordinated with selected chairs and finishes. Artwork should incorporate A/V components (outlets, charging ports, speakers, control tablet), be low-maintenance, and modular or moveable if needed. Must comply with FAA and safety/police regulations and incorporate the RTAA's Modern Mountain design theme and guidelines.

- Interfere with airport, HQ, or police station activities
- Impact circulation or workflow in the HQ building
- Be decorative only
- Require special maintenance or cleaning
- Impede tabletop working, sightlines, or be distracting
- Compete with or cover existing design components
