Overview
The City of Auburn is seeking artists and artist groups working in two-dimensional or small three-dimensional media to exhibit at City of Auburn gallery spaces in 2027. Galleries are within City operated buildings including the Auburn Senior Center (Cheryl Sallee Gallery) and the Community & Event Center. All work must be delivered and picked up in person in Auburn, Washington.
Gallery Spaces
- Cheryl Sallee Gallery at Auburn Senior Activity Center, 808 Ninth St. SE: 8-week exhibitions of approximately 5-12 artworks; hours 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, plus various evenings and weekends.
- Auburn Community & Event Center, 910 Ninth Street SE: 26 linear feet hallway gallery with pedestals and vitrines for 3-D work; 8-week exhibitions accommodating 4-20 artworks; hours 8am-8pm Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm Saturday.

Eligibility
Established and emerging artists and artist groups working in two-dimensional or three-dimensional media are considered. All work must be delivered and picked up in person in Auburn, Washington at the assigned date and time if selected. Artwork via post is not accepted. All work must be mounted or framed and securely wired (or with D-rings) and ready to hang (no sawtooth hangers accepted).
Media Accepted
- Printmaking, painting, drawing, mixed media, textiles, mosaic, glass, recycled materials, photography, calligraphy, collage, fiber art, ceramics, jewelry, metal sculptures, and other two-dimensional or small three-dimensional media
Application Requirements
- Up to ten (10) representative images (minimum 3); preference for work completed in the last two years and representing the type of work proposed for exhibition
- Artist statement describing your artistic process and inspirations
Selection & Exhibition
A selection panel including City of Auburn Arts Commissioners, artists, and community-at-large representatives will select artists for both gallery spaces. City of Auburn staff will install artwork and labels. Two-month exhibitions will be scheduled immediately following artist selection. Installation date and time will be assigned during the work week.
Promotion & Sales
Exhibitions are publicized through city-generated press releases, social media, email e-blasts, and the city website. Artists may produce supplemental publicity and show cards. A reception can be scheduled based on artist interest and availability. Artists are not allowed to list artworks for sale, but sales can be handled privately between artist and buyer. The City of Auburn does not take a commission on works sold.
Liability & Insurance
Artists are required to sign an 'Agreement to Exhibit' liability waiver. Exhibition spaces are not secured and there is no insurance for objects submitted. Artists may wish to carry their own insurance.
