Volt - Nordic Culture Point

Overview

Volt is a language and culture programme for children and young people up to the age of 25 that funds projects promoting interest in the arts, culture, and languages in other Nordic countries. Funding is available up to EUR 35,000 for projects conducted in collaboration with participants from at least three Nordic countries (Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Åland).

Who can apply

Individuals and organisations, associations, and institutions are eligible. Applicants must be resident in the Nordic Region but do not require Nordic citizenship. Applicants do not need to belong to the target group themselves but should have experience working with children and young people. If you are under 18, you can present your idea to an association, organisation, or adult who can help develop and implement the project.

Eligible projects

• Production of works or other initiatives featuring creative content
• Introduction of exchange or long-term cooperation for the target group
• Activities that create dialogue, discussion, or debate around Nordic languages, art, and culture

What is not eligible

• Operating costs
• Sports activities
• Study trips or teaching scholarships
• Scout activities
• Political activities
• Commercial projects or activities intended to generate financial profit
• Projects completed or commenced before a funding decision is made

Funding amounts and co-financing

Project funding from Volt up to EUR 35,000 is available. Funding of up to EUR 7,000 may be awarded with full funding. For applications requesting higher sums, funding from Volt may account for a maximum of 70% of the project's costs. At least 30% of the entire project must be covered by other funding, which may consist of grants from other funders, volunteer work, or the organiser's own resources (funding in kind). The maximum amount of funding from Nordic co-operation may not exceed 85% of the project's total budget. Bilateral or national funding does not count as pan-Nordic in this context.

Application requirements

Applications must include a completed budget using the mandatory budget template and relevant supporting documents relating to the planned partnership, such as an agreement or letter of intent.

Assessment criteria

• Involvement of children and young people: Project aimed at those up to age 25, with opportunities for creative work, participation, and shared decision-making
• Cultural dimension: Creativity and artistic expression are central; projects should be inclusive and developmental
• Nordic collaborative dimension: Project should promote joint creative work, networks, and exchanges; at least three Nordic countries must be involved
• Language dimension: Project may contribute to understanding of Nordic languages and promote linguistic diversity
• Sustainability dimension: Projects must contribute to the Nordic Council of Ministers' Vision 2030 for a sustainable and integrated Nordic Region
