Akademie Schloss Solitude Web ResidencySince 2016, Akademie Schloss Solitude has organised Web Residencies, an exclusively online residency programme that supports artists, designers, researchers, and practitioners working with digital and web-based practices. The programme runs multiple open calls each year, each curated by invited experts or curatorial collectives. For each call, the curators select a cohort of participants for a residency lasting four to eight weeks, during which the work process and outcomes are presented online. Participants receive a grant (currently around €1,200) rather than the earlier smaller stipend, and are encouraged to experiment with digital technologies, new art forms, and the thematic prompts set by each call. In the years 2017–2020, the programme was developed in cooperation with ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, with several curated calls and projects emerging from that collaboration; more recent calls are now run directly by the Akademie and publicised via their Digital Solitude and Web Residencies channels. GlogauAIRGlogauAIR is a non-profit art space and residency created in 2006 by the artists Chema Alvargonzalez and is today supported by Memoria Artística Chema Alvargonzalez, in Kreuzberg, Berlin.Focused on the principles of exploring, creating, and exhibiting, the residency offers an on-site and on-line program for international artists of all fields.
