Design-it-Digital 2026

Overview

Design-it-Digital is an online student design competition owned and operated by the Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers (AWFS). Students are presented with a hypothetical scenario in which a client is asking for a specific piece of wood furniture and/or case goods with certain constraints. Students design their solution using CAD and rendering software. The competition introduces students to real-world design challenges and highlights CAD software use in the wood industry.

Eligibility

Open to middle/high school (grades 6-12) and post-secondary students from the United States and Canada. No minimum age; maximum age 35 years old as of December 31, 2026. Students must be full-time, degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking students enrolled in accredited programs focused on woodworking, architecture, design, engineering, or related areas. Part-time students in accredited post-secondary programs are eligible if transitioning into a related career field. Those making their living or substantial income in a related career path are not eligible.

Requirements

Schools must register online before students submit entries. All submissions must be in English. Students and teachers must sign a release form to verify the entry is the student's work. Students must have support of an instructor at their school to enter. Middle School, High School, and Post-Secondary students are judged separately.
