Get matched →Hub Feenix, a new non-profit center for creativity and well-being, offers an artist residency program focused on providing an inspiring and uplifting environment. The former Meltola sanitarium has been transformed into a harmonious community center where artists can concentrate on their work, enjoy nature, and engage in collaborations and learning.
Hub Feenix is located in beautiful nature, with a lake for swimming within a 15-minute walk. The area is suitable for walks and bicycle rides, and forests offer berries and mushrooms in late summer and autumn. On-site amenities include a wooden sauna (heated weekly), a gym, a climbing wall, a football field, and bicycles for borrowing. A shared car is also available. The center hosts various dance and music events and festivals. Nearby places of interest include Fiskars artist village, Tammisaari, Mustio, and Raasepori castles. Hub Feenix is a strictly vegetarian environment; guests are asked not to bring or cook meat or fish. Alcohol is permitted in moderation.
The Hub Feenix Artist Residency runs annually from April through December, with a winter break from January to March. Artists typically stay for 1–3 months; a minimum of 2 months is recommended.
Artists stay in approximately 15m² private bedrooms and share kitchen, bathroom, and shower facilities. A washing machine is available. The building also offers shared spaces, lounges, and a co-working space. A limited number of bedrooms with a private toilet are available for an extra cost of 50€ per month. Rooms with a private bathroom and shower incur an extra cost of 100€ per month. Please mention any preferences in your application due to limited availability.
Hub Feenix welcomes visual artists, illustrators, cartoon or animation artists, musicians, writers, designers, artisans, journalists, curators, and translators. Workshop facilities include printmaking, textile, ceramics, a 300m² professionally equipped wood workshop, a 3D-printing workshop, a sound recording studio, and a music room. Private 15m² studios on the 4th floor are designed for concentration and creative flow, offering natural light and forest views. These studios are ideal for painters, illustrators, and visual artists.

There is no expected outcome of the residency. Monthly 'Meet the Artists' afternoons are organized for artists to share their work with each other and the community. Artists are also welcome to organize open studio events, concerts, installations, or other events in agreement with staff, and have the possibility to exhibit work in the Hub Feenix gallery space. Residency coordinators, who are professional artists, are available to assist with collaborations or workshops. Artists are expected to keep common spaces tidy and to clean their bedroom and studio before departure.
