Program Overview
Research Enhancement Grants support research activities necessary to revise a previously submitted grant proposal in preparation for resubmission to an external sponsor. Activities may include preliminary data collection, background research, stakeholder outreach, or anything identified by the review panel as critical to a successful resubmission.

- Award notifications within two weeks after receipt of the review committee's recommendation

Eligibility
Applicants must hold at least a 50% academic faculty appointment at the University of Nevada, Reno and have a current role statement that includes research or professional development responsibilities.
Funding
- Anticipated funding amount: Up to $20,000
- Cost share allowed but not required
- Project period: 12 months from date of award
Application Requirements
- Project description (three page limit) including specific aims, background and significance, approach/methodology, project timeline, collaborative strategies if applicable, and future funding strategy
- Budget and budget justification (two page limit) in table format with budget narrative
- CV or biosketch in the format customary in the field
- Optional: Letter indicating voluntary cost share source, signed by authorized individual
Allowable and Unallowable Expenses
- Unallowable: Course buyouts, summer salary, equipment (unless supported by cost share from department or college)
- Cost share is allowed but not required
Review Process
Applications will be reviewed by an external review service and evaluated on intellectual merit, clarity and presentation, feasibility, benefits to the researcher, potential for future external funding, and potential for further interdisciplinary research.
Award Conditions and Reporting
Awardees must submit their revised proposal to an external review agency prior to resubmission to the sponsor within 12 months of the end of the project period. Awardees are required to respond to an annual survey requesting details on the outcome of their award.
