The Red Ochre Award is a prestigious nomination-based award recognizing senior First Nations artists and cultural workers for outstanding lifetime achievement and contributions to arts and culture. Nominations are accepted for two categories: Lifetime Achievement in Artistic Excellence and Lifetime Achievement in Cultural Advocacy and Leadership.

Eligibility
- Senior artists may not nominate themselves
- Nominees can only be nominated in one category
- Nominee cannot have previously received a Red Ochre Award
- Nominee cannot have been shortlisted for a First Nations Arts and Culture Award within the past three years
- Nominator must be an individual over 18 residing in Australia or an Australian-based organisation
Ineligibility to nominate
- You have an overdue grant report
- You owe money to Creative Australia
- The nominee has previously received a Red Ochre Award
- The nominee was previously shortlisted for a First Nations Arts and Culture Award within the past three years

- Australian First Nations senior artist or arts and cultural worker with over thirty years of continued artistic and cultural practice, with demonstrated lifetime achievements on national and international platform; living artist only; no prior Red Ochre Award recipients or those shortlisted for First Nations Arts and Culture Award within past three years.
