Life at Escola Normal unfolds through shared meals, late-night conversations, rehearsals, walks to concerts, spontaneous collaborations, and time spent alone with one’s work. Residents have access to music, photography, visual arts, and sewing studios, as well as presentation spaces and the cultural program of the house.
There are no mandatory outcomes. The residency does not believe every residency should end with a polished product, recognizing that the most important outcome can be a new question, an unexpected encounter, or the feeling of having found time to listen to one’s own voice again.
