AADK Spain invites artists and researchers working on body, territory, and spatiality to participate in its Artistic Residency Program at Centro Negra in Blanca, Murcia. The program is a space for reflection and artistic research linking work with the historical, cultural, and geographical context of the region. Theoretical research projects of any scientific or humanistic discipline may apply, provided they have artistic practice as their object of study. Priority is given to proposals focusing on an expanded concept of architecture, including listening and modeling spaces, experimenting with inhabitation, and recovering the memory of places.

Residents may stay from 1 to 6 months. The residency program runs on a monthly calendar, starting on the 1st of every month. Projects working with the Blanca community must be at least 2 months long. Artists must be willing to engage in trial-and-error processes and establish respectful relationships with inhabitants.

Two housing options are available. A shared house in Blanca (5 minutes from the main building) offers 6 bedrooms, 2 shared living rooms, shared kitchen, 3 bathrooms, and borrowed bikes—ideal for immersing in village life and fostering collaboration. Alternatively, 4 individual apartments located near the studios feature private kitchens and bathrooms, terraces, and direct access to the main building. Both options include bedding and towels.

Centro Negra is the main building, serving as working area and exhibition space. It comprises 6 interconnected studios of varying sizes and morphologies, adaptable to multiple purposes. Located on a mountainside and accessible only by foot, the building's unique morphology means closed workspaces are not always possible.

All disciplines are welcome. AADK Spain provides sound equipment, lighting, projectors, and basic hardware tools; access to a photolab can be requested. For specific equipment needs, contact the organizer. Throughout the residency, mentoring, curatorial support, production assistance, and promotion through AADK Spain's communication channels are provided. Monthly Open Studios are held on the last Saturday of each month.

Fees for an individual artist range from €650–€900 per month, depending on the selected accommodation. Additional fees apply for collective projects, collaborators, and visitors.

  • Application deadline: January 30, 2020
  • Residency starts: August 7, 2026
  • Residency ends: August 7, 2026

Participants are encouraged to maintain contact after their stay ends. AADK Spain will promote their work in forthcoming exhibitions curated by the platform as well as in papers, conferences, and publications.
