Celebrating the October season, Abandoned Haunts & Curious Trappings is a juried exhibition of hauntingly beautiful artworks. The show will be judged by award-winning photographer Matthew Christopher of Abandoned America. All original media are acceptable, including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, collage, fabric work, glasswork, jewelry, and digital media. Artists nationwide are invited to apply.

  • Submission deadline: Wednesday, September 16, 2026
  • Acceptance notification: Saturday, September 19, 2026
  • Drop-off: Saturday, October 3, 12–8:30 pm; Sunday, October 4, 12–6:30 pm
  • Exhibition: Tuesday, October 6 – Thursday, November 5, 2026
  • Reception: Thursday, October 22, 7–9 pm
  • Pick-up: Friday, November 6, 12–8:30 pm; Saturday, November 7, 12–8:30 pm

Artists nationwide are invited to apply.

All original media acceptable. Maximum size is 36" x 36". All works must be for sale. Canvases must be wired for hanging. Works on paper may be matted. All jewelry must be framed. Framed pieces 16" x 20" and larger must have plexiglass instead of glass.

Each applicant may submit one piece for $35. Up to three additional pieces may be submitted for $5 each. Maximum of one piece from each selected artist will be chosen for the exhibition. Indicate whether work is framed or unframed. Include artist name, work title, and full medium/materials description.

  • First Prize: $200
  • Second Prize: $100
  • Third Prize: $50
  • Honorable Mention

All art must be for sale. The gallery takes a 35% commission on sold pieces. Sale price must be provided during application and may not be subsequently changed.

Physical drop-off and pick-up are strongly preferred. If shipping, a prepaid return shipping label must be included. The Firefly has limited storage; artwork not retrieved within 90 days of the show's close becomes property of The Firefly Artists. Note: No wheelchair access at this historic building venue. Artists must provide insurance coverage for their own works.
