About
Overview
The Albertine Translation Fund & Prize, launched in 2022 by Villa Albertine, recognizes and supports translators and American publishers producing English translations of French and Francophone works. A committee of independent professional experts selects works that represent new trends in fiction and graphic novels and important points of view in nonfiction.
What's Eligible
Works first published in France within the last ten years that have not yet found an American publisher are eligible. The French publisher will have one year to secure an acquisition of rights contract with an American publisher for the English translation.
Award
Each awarded book receives $2,000 toward publishing expenses, plus up to 50% of translation costs, capped at $5,000. One book selected among the recipients wins the Albertine Translation Prize and receives an additional $5,000 to be allocated to the translator.

Requirements
Published works in the US that benefited from the Albertine Translation Fund & Prize must carry the program logo on the cover and mention of the program on the copyright page.
