Get matched →The Lucid Art Residency Program provides each artist with a 3-week solo residency in Inverness, California, in a serene, retreat-like natural environment. The program encourages nonrepresentational artmaking exploration through mixed-media, conceptual, ecological, and interdisciplinary approaches, fostering contemplative studio work and deeper connection with nature. Artists explore inner worlds and deep levels of consciousness in solitary surroundings. The Foundation will curate an online exhibition featuring residency artists' work.
The residency is located in Inverness, California. Participants receive housing with a bedroom, living room, bathroom, full kitchen, wood-burning stove, WiFi, parking, and laundry facilities. A studio called the "Ark" is available, featuring high ceilings, upper loft, skylights, private deck, fireplace, and modular work tables (no WiFi in studio). A print shop with a Sturges press is available for experienced printmakers using water-based media only.
The Foundation encourages nonrepresentational artwork and nontoxic artistic media. The following media are NOT accepted: oil-based paints, turpentine, spray paint, or any volatile or strong-odor media. No large power tools allowed on campus.

Applicants may submit a variety of work samples in addition to the required amount. Maximum 1 residency application per artist. Selection Committee considers artists working in visual arts, eco-art, video/new media, writing, poetry, music composition, and choreography.
During the residency, artists meet with a Lucid Art professional artist associate for studio dialogue and conversation about their work. Weekly tea and conversation sessions are scheduled with staff, artist associates, and/or scholars. Artists receive a tour of Gordon Onslow Ford's historic studio. Participants have access to a house with WiFi, electricity, and full amenities. No stipend or meals are provided.
