Overview
This annual grant supports activities that unite effective practices in education and in the arts, enriching teaching and learning opportunities for K-12 students. Applicants may submit one application per category per fiscal year.
Eligibility
- Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization; or unit of local, county, tribal, or state government, including schools and school districts
- Must have been in operation in Idaho for at least one year
- Must have a valid 501(c)(3) Determination Letter with effective date at least one year prior to the grant application deadline
- Must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) issued by sam.gov
- Must compensate professional artists and administrators
- Final reports for past Commission grants must be submitted and approved
Key Dates
- Projects must begin after July 1
- Annual grants are approved in the May Commission meeting
- Applicants are notified in June
- Funds become available in July
How to Apply
- Apply online at grants.arts.idaho.gov
- Create a user account if you are a first-time applicant and wait for approval before applying
- Select the appropriate funding opportunity and submit by 11:59 p.m., Mountain Time, on the deadline date
- Late or incomplete applications will not be considered
- Request a courtesy review at least three weeks prior to the deadline for feedback
What Cannot Be Funded
- Endowments or contributions to endowments
- Fundraising projects that do not raise funds for the arts
- Prizes, scholarships, or free tickets
- Projects to generate or attract audiences
- Debt offset, fines, penalties, or legal fees
- Primarily promotional or mass-distribution activities (CDs, portfolios, brochures, websites)
- Self-published books
- Student exhibitions or performances unless documenting an arts education grant
- Tuition, fees, or teaching materials for degrees or certifications
- Previously completed projects or those beginning before July 1
- Primarily recreational, vocational, or religious projects
- Membership-restricted activities
- Consecutive attendance at routine annual conferences
- Pageants, festivals, or unrelated celebrations
- Journalism or academic works not demonstrating artistic emphasis
- Lobbying or political activities
- Hospitality expenses (food, drink, alcohol, flowers)
- Capital expenses for individuals
- Writing intended for youth
