Get matched →Building on the successful pilot residency, Cow House Studios, with the support of Wexford County Council, is offering an annual two-week residency specifically for parenting artists. This program provides necessary support, including childcare, a stipend of €500, accommodation, and meals, to enable artists to dedicate time to their work. The residency aims to fill a platform notably missing from existing offerings, fostering solidarity among artists who may feel isolated due to family demands.
Selected artists and their families will reside at Cow House Studios for two weeks in spring 2027. Childcare is provided from 10 AM until 5 PM on weekdays, allowing artists to focus on their work. Breakfast is self-service, while lunch and dinner are enjoyed as a group, with lunch from 1 to 2 PM when parents will be with their children.
Applicants need to prepare a portfolio in PDF format, at most 10MB in size. There is no specific requirement for the number of images; applicants are advised to submit only relevant materials. Images should include captions or short descriptions. For videos, films, or audio, provide links to your website, Vimeo, or YouTube page.
Every listing links to the organizer's official page. Always confirm deadlines, fees, and entry rules there before you apply.
Applications are assessed considering artistic merit, suitability, and need. The selection panel evaluates the quality of work represented, how the artist's practice would benefit from the residency and the studio context, and if family circumstances present specific challenges to their practice or if their practice has lapsed due to parenting demands.
The residency hosts between three and four families. If both partners are artists and do not have a collaborative practice, they should apply separately. Artists are welcome to bring their families, allowing both to take advantage of the residency and childcare if one application is successful. Due to the high number of applications, individual feedback cannot be provided.
