Overview
Monson Arts is an artists' residency and arts center in Monson, Maine, providing time and space for visual artists and writers to devote to their creative practices. Located at the edge of Maine's North Woods near the Appalachian Trail, the town is surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The program accepts applications from artists and writers at all stages of their careers working in all media.
Residency Details
- Length: 2 or 4 weeks
- Studio space with access to wood and metal shop facilities
- Private bedroom in newly renovated shared historic homes
- All meals provided
- $500 stipend ($250 for two-week programs)
- High-speed wifi internet access
Media & Disciplines
Drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, and audio production. Special photography residency sessions available five times per year with photographer Todd Watts, including access to fully equipped darkroom and digital photo studio.

- Up to 5 samples of visual work OR 5 pages of written work (15 pages for graphic novel or playwrights)
