Get matched →The City of Pompano Beach will commission an artist or artist team for a work-for-hire project to design, fabricate, and install a sculpture at the north entrance of the Ali Cultural Center. The budget is $45,000.00, which includes all insurance, taxes, fees, permits, delivery, lighting, concrete base/pad installation, engineering, and installation.
The sculpture's theme is "Rooted Pride, Living Legacy." The artwork should honor the Black community of Pompano Beach's Northwest—its culture, history, pride, style, creativity, and resilience—acknowledging struggle while celebrating a future in motion and a legacy that never gives up.
The sculpture must be placed at the north entrance of Ali Cultural Center, 353 Dr M.L.K. Jr Blvd, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. It should enhance the area and be a standalone work of art, tall in vertical length, and fit inside a 9 ft. 10 in. diameter.
The project is open to all professional artists nationwide. Applicants must have experience in similar projects. Artists are not eligible if they are immediate family or business partners of Public Art Committee members or program staff.
All applications must be submitted through CAFÉ. Artists must submit: resume, artist statement (explaining the proposed design), and examples of past work equal to or of similar value to the project. Proposed design sketch is optional.
The Public Art Committee will shortlist the top three applicants. Each shortlisted applicant will receive $200.00 and is required to submit a complete proposal: a detailed, exact, scaled design created in CAD or similar document with engineering specs and budget. The City may request up to three (3) revisions from the final artist's design.
Submit 3 to 5 images of past work through CAFÉ.
