Overview
Grants for Visual Artists provides direct support to under-recognized visual artists 21 years or older to support the development of their work. Grantees may use their award to support any activity toward artistic development.

Eligibility
- Self-defined under-recognized visual artist
- 21 years or older
- US citizen or Legal Permanent Resident of the United States
- Not currently enrolled in a fine arts degree program, have not been enrolled within the last 12 months, and not planning to attend in the coming year
- Not a previous recipient of a direct artist grant from Harpo
Application requirements

- Images: .jpg format only, no larger than 2MB per file
- Video formats accepted: .mp4 or .mov
- Audio format accepted: .mp3
Fees
- $15 application fee
- Fee waivers available by written request to [email protected] (must be requested before submitting application)
Awards
Awards are made up to $10,000. The number of awards is determined each year by the annual granting budget. Decisions are made by the Board of Directors following review by independent professional advisors, with each application reviewed by at least three advisors; finalist applications reviewed by a minimum of five advisors plus staff and committees.
Reporting
A report detailing how funds were used is due within 10 months of receiving funds.
