Overview
Explore the elemental beauty of wood firing in this two-week intensive led by master potter Jack Troy. Participants will fire in two distinct wood kilns, learning through hands-on practice, demonstrations, and discussions of firing history and aesthetics. The workshop begins with forming and glazing sessions, followed by the loading and firing of both train and cross-draft kilns. Expect to dive deep into shino glazes, natural ash surfaces, and the alchemy of flame.

About the Instructor
Jack Troy, a seminal figure in American ceramics, taught for nearly four decades at Juniata College in Pennsylvania, where he established the ceramics program. A prolific artist, writer, and educator, Jack has led more than 270 workshops worldwide and is known for his deep understanding of wood firing traditions and his poetic approach to clay.
