Equipment for Organizations

Overview

Equipment for Organizations grants fund the purchase and installation of equipment that can be considered as fixed assets, including computer hardware, for arts, heritage, historic preservation, and science organizations in King County. Requests can range from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $15,000. Applicants often receive partial funding.

Eligibility

Grants are available for King County-based federally-recognized nonprofit arts, heritage, historic preservation, and science/technology organizations, or cultural organizations that are fiscally sponsored by an eligible 501(c)(3) partner, as well as Tribal governments, public development authorities, and public agencies who provide public benefit through their programs or activities.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications are evaluated by a panel based on five criteria: Quality of reasoning behind the equipment purchase and priority to the organization; Project Impact and Public Benefit to the community; Advancing Equity focus on marginalized communities and racial equity; Implementation and Maintenance capability including secure storage; and Feasibility of the project budget and timeline.

Public Benefit Requirements

All funded projects must serve the public interest. Public benefit can be demonstrated through free or low-cost programs using the equipment, serving marginalized communities including BIPOC groups and people with disabilities, increasing accessibility, supporting public health, or sharing equipment with other cultural or science groups at no or low cost.
