The MPhil (Fine Art) offers a similar experience to the first two years of a full-time PhD programme, allowing for extended research through fine art practice and a written text. It enables students to progress to the PhD (Studio Art) if their research is deemed robust enough, or serves as an exit route from the PhD programme, providing recognition for completed research in cases where a student cannot complete the full PhD requirements due to personal or other circumstances.
