Overview

Monson Arts is an artists' residency and arts center in Monson, Maine, providing time and space for artists and writers to devote to their creative practices. Located at the edge of Maine's North Woods near the Appalachian Trail, the residency features artist studios outfitted for various practices, including wood and metal shop facilities, plus comfortable writers' studios. All residents receive a private bedroom in newly renovated historic homes with shared kitchens and bathrooms, high-speed WiFi, and all meals.

Residency Details

• Length: 2 weeks or 4 weeks
• Studio space with access to wood and metal shop facilities
• Private bedroom in shared housing
• All meals included
• Stipend: $500 (two-week programs); $250 (four-week programs)
• 5 visual and 5 literary artists accepted per session

Eligibility

Open to artists and writers at all stages in their careers working in all media. Open to artists based anywhere in the world. Pets are not allowed. May apply as a team but must apply and be accepted individually.

How to Apply

• Up to 5 samples of visual work OR 5 pages of written work
• Letter of intent
• Resume or CV (limited to 6,000 characters)

Housing and Facilities

All residents live in newly renovated historic homes in town with shared kitchens and bathrooms. Residency is open to all artists and writers working in any medium. Accessibility: Partially accessible (50% or more). Housing: Private bedroom in shared facility on campus.
