Get matched →Sandhill Crane Studio Artist-in-Residence Program Alachua Conservation Trust (ACT) Program Overview The Sandhill Crane Studio Artist-in-Residence Program offers artists the opportunity to immerse themselves in the landscapes protected by ACT. This residency is designed to foster a meaningful connection between art, conservation, and community, encouraging artists to draw inspiration from North Central Florida’s unique ecosystems. Artists will have dedicated time and space to create work while engaging with ACT’s mission of land conservation and stewardship. Residency Options Applicants may choose one of the following residency durations: Weekend Residency (2–3 days) One-Week Residency Two-Week Residency Please indicate your preferred timeframe and any scheduling constraints in your application. Application Requirements Applicants must submit the following materials: Portfolio (3–5 Works) A selection of recent work that represents your artistic practice. This can include images, video, writing samples, or other relevant formats. Artist Statement A brief statement (250–500 words) describing your artistic practice and why you are interested in participating in the Sandhill Studio residency. Please include how your work connects to nature, conservation, or place (if applicable). Residency Proposal A short description of how you plan to use your time during the residency. This can include specific projects, themes, or ideas you wish to explore while on-site. In-Kind Contribution Proposal As part of this residency, artists are asked to contribute to ACT in a meaningful way. Please describe your proposed in-kind contribution. Examples may include but are not limited to: Hosting a workshop or community event Donating a completed artwork Creating content (photography, video, writing, merchandise) for ACT We encourage creative proposals that align with ACT’s mission and engage the community. Selection Criteria Applications will be reviewed based on: Artistic quality and originality Alignment with ACT’s mission and landscape Thoughtfulness of residency and contribution proposals Feasibility within the selected timeframe Tuscawilla Cabin Fully furnished cabin on Lake Tuscawilla Sleeps 12 people (5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms) In Micanopy, FL about a 20 minutes drive from Gainesville, FL.
