Overview
Ahlam Shibli, born in Palestine in 1970, is a photographer whose work addresses the contradictory implications of the notion of home through a documentary aesthetic. Her work deals with the loss of home and the struggle against this loss, as well as the restrictions and limitations that the idea of home imposes on individuals and communities marked by repressive identity politics.
Exhibition
Her series of photographs taken in Arles depict several Arlesian communities and identities, each with their own way of inscribing themselves in the city.
