Overview
The Greater Columbus Arts Council's Community Arts Collaboration Awards celebrate people, organizations, and partnerships that strengthen and advance the arts in central Ohio. These awards recognize artists, educators, arts organizations, community initiatives, businesses, and civic leaders whose work enriches cultural vitality, expands access to the arts, and demonstrates the transformative power of creativity.
Three Award Categories
- Jim Arter Arts Educator Award: $5,000 to an individual who has significantly contributed to providing arts education opportunities to elementary and secondary students, within schools or in extracurricular programs or activities. Self-nominations not permitted.
- Michael B. Coleman Arts Partner Award: Artwork by a central Ohio artist to an executive director, interim executive director, general director, artistic director, administrative director, or board president of a nonprofit arts organization in Franklin County for exceptional leadership in the sector over the past 3-5 years. Self-nominations not permitted.
- Dale E. Heydlauff Community Arts Innovation Awards (2 awards): $5,000 each to innovative projects or initiatives that have used the arts to address broader community issues such as accessibility, diversity, inclusion, equity, or social justice. Projects completed from September 2025 onward are eligible. Self-nominations permitted.

- Nomination deadline: September 10, 2026 at 5 p.m.
- Winners honored at an event in late October; date, details, and registration announced in early September
Eligibility
- Nominees must currently live or work in central Ohio.
- GCAC staff and board members are ineligible for nomination.
- Self-nominations prohibited for Jim Arter Arts Educator and Michael B. Coleman Arts Partner awards.
- Self-nominations permitted for Dale E. Heydlauff Community Arts Innovation Awards.
- For Dale E. Heydlauff awards: individuals, artist collectives, organizations, and businesses (both for-profit and nonprofit) are eligible.

Nominations are submitted online only. Nominators may submit multiple nominations in the same or different categories. Submit as complete a nomination as possible; incomplete information is a common reason nominations do not advance.
